CCNN Yamino valuing culture and handcraft initiative

In their quality-of-life plan, women from the indigenous cacataibo community of Yamino near Cordillera Azul National Park chose two activities: to revitalize traditional Kakataibo handcrafts as a way of retaining cultural identity and to invest in a potable water system for their community. They realized that to achieve optimal results in both they needed to protect their forests and creeks. So they lobbied their community to stop timber extraction and created a communal reserve.
